GUANGZHOU, October 29 – 

The Shuonanji Orchestra of Jinan University delivered a successful performance at the "Double Ninth Elegance · Gilded Years Concert" held recently at the Central Stage of Guangzhou Cultural Park. The performance garnered coverage from media outlets including China Central Television (CCTV), showcasing the active and vibrant spirit of the University's retired faculty and staff.

The concert was jointly organized by the Liwan District Office of Spiritual Civilization Development, the Liwan District New Era Civilization Practice Center, and Guangzhou Cultural Park. During the event, the Shuonanji Orchestra presented ten classic Chinese musical pieces, such as "Beautiful Flowers, Full Moon," "Step by Step Ascending," and "Golden Snake Dance," earning warm applause from the audience.

Established in March 2023, the Shuonanji Orchestra derives its name from the phrase "Shuonan Ji, where cultural influence reaches all corners," found in the ancient Book of Documents, symbolizing the dissemination of Chinese culture. The orchestra primarily consists of retired faculty and staff from Jinan University, led by Feng Lie, a renowned Lingnan-region physician retired from the University's Overseas Chinese Hospital. Guided and supported by the University's Retired Faculty Affairs Office, the orchestra operates under the principles of "equality, mutual assistance, dedication, and progress" and has become an integral part of campus cultural development. Since its founding, the orchestra has participated in more than ten performances both on and off campus.

Looking ahead, the Retired Faculty Affairs Office of Jinan University will continue to support the development of the Shuonanji Orchestra and similar organizations, providing retired faculty and staff with broader platforms for continued learning, enjoyment, and contribution.
