Jinan University has recently been granted official licenses for the use and production of experimental animals by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The approval will further enhance the university's research infrastructure and provide essential support for innovation in fields such as life sciences and medicine.

According to the Decision on Granting Administrative Licensing (Yue Shi Xu Zhun Zi [2025] No. 78 and No. 79) issued by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, the licensed facility is located in the Experimental Animal Building at Jinan University's Panyu Campus (No. 855 Xingye Avenue East, Panyu District, Guangzhou). The use license covers conventional environments (for conventional-grade guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs, pigs, and monkeys), barrier environments (for SPF-grade mice and rats), and isolation environments (for sterile-grade mice). The production license authorizes the breeding of SPF-grade mice and rats.

The university stated that the newly approved licenses reflect continued improvements in its experimental animal management system and research support capabilities, representing a significant step forward in its “Double First-Class” initiative. The facility will serve multidisciplinary research needs across the university, promoting cutting-edge scientific exploration, talent development, and industry-academia-research collaboration.
