The Institute of Nano Intelligent Manufacturing was officially inaugurated at Jinan University, marking a significant advancement in the university's commitment to nanotechnology and smart materials research.
The unveiling ceremony brought together distinguished participants, including CAS academicians Bai Chunli, Chen Hesheng, Tang Benzhong, Chang Junbiao, Ma Yuguang, Chi Lifeng, Chen Chunying, and Zhao Yuliang; representatives from relevant central government departments and the Education Department of Guangdong Province; Ye Shanhu, Deputy Secretary-General of the Guangzhou Municipal Government; Sun Yu, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Jinan University; and Xing Feng, CAE academician and President of Jinan University.

During the ceremony, President Xing Feng and Secretary Sun Yu presented Academician Zhao Yuliang with the letter of appointment as the institute’s director and adorned him with the university emblem. Secretary Sun emphasized that the establishment of the institute represents a strategic initiative by Jinan University to support national innovation-driven development and contribute to the growth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

President Xing Feng highlighted that the institute signifies a crucial step for the university in addressing national priorities and advancing cutting-edge research in intelligent materials. He reaffirmed the university's dedication to achieving internationally recognized breakthroughs in nanotechnology and biomedicine, thereby supporting high-quality regional and national development.
In his keynote address, Director Zhao Yuliang outlined the institute's development strategy. He explained that, building on Jinan University's Double First-Class disciplines, the institute will focus on the design and engineering applications of nanomaterials. It aims to establish national and provincial-level platforms for nanotechnology and become a globally influential hub for scientific and technological innovation.
Following the unveiling, the Advanced Intelligent Materials Frontier Forum was held, featuring academic presentations by CAS academicians Chen Hesheng, Tang Benzhong, Chang Junbiao, and Chi Lifeng on emerging topics in intelligent materials.
