Bijie, Guizhou — From August 18 to 20, Xia Quan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Research Base for Strengthening the Awareness of the Chinese National Community at Jinan University, led a delegation to Bijie City to share experiences and explore cooperation on ethnic unity and the concept of the Chinese national community. A research symposium was held on the morning of August 19.

Welcoming remarks
•Chen Kun, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Bijie Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Group of the Citizens’ Religious Affairs Committee, welcomed Xia Quan and his team. He outlined Bijie’s ongoing work to strengthen national unity and expressed hope that the visit would deepen ties with Jinan University in areas such as platform co-construction, practical research, and theoretical exploration.
Acknowledge and objectives
•Xia Quan thanked Bijie for the hospitality and highlighted Jinan University’s long-standing role in serving overseas Chinese affairs and promoting research on the sense of community among the Chinese nation. He said the research base would leverage resources and academic strengths from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to build a multidimensional, high-level work system aimed at practical samples and theoretical support for ethnic work in the new era.
Cooperation framework
•The agreement foresees in-depth collaboration based on complementary strengths, resource sharing, and win-win cooperation. Key areas include establishing educational practice bases, conducting field research, and jointly advancing the construction of the Chinese national community.
Leadership perspectives
•Cheng Jingwu emphasized that the cooperation and co-construction agreement would leverage university strengths in talent cultivation and scholarly research, while highlighting Bijie’s experience as a model for ethnic unity and progress. He noted that campus-land resource sharing, talent development, and joint research topics would inject momentum into Bijie’s ethnic-work development in the new era.
•Li Jian described the partnership as a practical model for theoretical research and field exploration of strengthening the sense of community. He said the collaboration would help Bijie’s ethnic work achieve high-quality development and turn the practical base into an incubator for innovation, an experimental field for practice, and a bridge for communication and cooperation.
Field visits and practical learning During the visit, Xia Quan and the delegation toured practical teaching sites, including the Tongxin Exhibition Hall in Bijie Experimental Zone, Jinyinshan Community in Hezhang County, and the Luxury Fragrance Museum, to observe on-site teaching and experience the region’s ethnic cultural integration and the Chinese national community concept in action.
Outlook Both sides expressed optimism that the partnership would advance educational practice, research, and community-building initiatives in Bijie, reinforcing the province's model for ethnic unity and contributing to the broader goals of national community awareness.
