On March 7th, the school union convened a women’s work conference in the multifunctional activity room adjacent to the auditorium, focusing on the themes discussed at the 14th Guangdong Women’s Congress. The meeting was attended by over 40 female members of the Working Committee and various secondary trade unions, with Chen Ying, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee and Chairman of the Trade Union, delivering a keynote speech.
In her address, Chen Ying extended holiday greetings to all female faculty and staff, emphasizing insights from the recent congress. She highlighted a call to action from Guangdong Provincial Party Secretary Huang Kunming, who stressed the importance of aligning women's initiatives with economic and social development to harness women's strengths as a significant force for high-quality development.
Chen also shared critical proposals from Comrade Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Party Group of the All-China Women's Federation, which included promoting ideological consensus, fostering family values, and empowering women through targeted support services. She urged female faculty members to translate the spirit of the congress into tangible actions on campus, encouraging them to pursue new opportunities for professional growth within the context of the school’s “double first-class” aspirations.
Further, Chen urged women to cultivate patriotism, emphasize family education, uphold socialist core values, and promote traditional Chinese culture. She highlighted the importance of establishing sound perspectives on marriage, family, and motherhood while encouraging women to develop their skills and seize the opportunities presented by a vibrant era of personal and professional aspirations.
Zhang Dongmei, a member of the Guangdong Women's Federation's Executive Committee and President of the College of Pharmacy, conveyed the essence of Huang Kunming's speech, calling for unity under the university's Party Committee leadership. She stressed the significance of integrating women's work into the broader context of university development, aiming to create a remarkable legacy for women in the new era and contributing to the university's advancement and Guangdong's leadership.
Peng Xuemei, a member of the Executive Committee of Guangdong Women's Federation and Deputy Director of the Anesthesiology Department at the First Affiliated Hospital, shared insights from Tan Ping, Chairman of the Guangdong Women's Federation, underscoring the need to remain grateful and to aspire toward meaningful contributions in supporting the university's high-quality development.
The meeting concluded with an appreciation event featuring a showcase of new Chinese-style clothing, promoting cultural heritage and innovation within the community.
