On December 2, 2024, a delegation of 15 teachers and students from the University of Wollongong in Australia visited Jinan University. The delegation was welcomed by Professor Weng Jian, Vice President of Jinan University and Dean of the College of Cyberspace Security, along with Wang Yu, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, and Kevin Huang, Teaching Director from Wollongong University. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Huang Xinyi from the School of Cyberspace Security.
Highlights of the Visit
- Warm Welcome: Professor Weng Jian extended a heartfelt welcome to the visiting delegation, emphasizing the strong partnership between the two universities. He highlighted the University of Wollongong's reputation in engineering, technology, and business, particularly in cybersecurity and computer science, which are among the top programs in Australia.

- Collaboration Goals: Weng noted Jinan University’s commitment to deepening cooperation and exchanges, aiming to cultivate high-quality talents with an international perspective and innovative capabilities. He expressed hope that the visiting delegation would immerse themselves in Chinese culture and the unique Lingnan heritage during their stay.

- Director Wang Yu also welcomed the delegation, expressing hopes for enhanced understanding of Chinese culture and education, fostering friendly exchanges between Chinese and Australian youth.
- Kevin Huang expressed gratitude for the warm reception, praising the organization of the visit and looking forward to future collaborations across various fields.
Activities and Cultural Exchange
Following the opening ceremony, the delegation visited the History Museum of Jinan University, where they learned about the university's rich history and its contributions to higher education in China. This experience aimed to deepen their understanding of Jinan University’s cultural atmosphere and educational innovations.

The visiting group, consisting of one teacher and fourteen undergraduate students, engaged in a two-week exchange program that included:
- Academic Lectures at the Cyberspace Security Institute.
- Cultural Activities such as:
- Chinese martial arts courses
- Chinese medicine acupuncture and moxibustion experiences
- Introductory courses on Chinese culture
Additionally, the delegation planned to conduct on-site inspections of cultural projects in Guangdong Province, allowing them to explore the current status of traditional Chinese culture.
The visit from Wollongong University represents a significant step in fostering international educational cooperation and cultural exchange. Through various activities and interactions, both universities aim to cultivate outstanding talents equipped with global perspectives and professional skills, strengthening the ties between Chinese and Australian academic communities.
