On December 28, 2024, the signing and unveiling ceremony for the Jinan University Overseas Chinese Affairs and Rule of Law Research Center Wuyi University Branch Center took place in Jiangmen, Guangdong Province. The event was attended by prominent officials and scholars, including:
- Chen Anming, Vice President of Guangdong Law Society
- Luan Tiangang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Wuyi University
- Jin Yan, Vice President and Secretary-General of Guangdong Law Society
- Wu Xiaohong, Second Level Inspector of Guangdong Provincial Department of Justice
- Other officials from Jiangmen's municipal government, law society, and representatives from Jinan University.

Purpose and Significance
The Overseas Chinese Affairs and Rule of Law Research Center at Jinan University serves as a key research platform aimed at supporting major national strategies. Established by the Law School/Intellectual Property School, it was recognized in 2018 as a provincial-level rule of law research base by the Guangdong Law Society and has since become one of the eight major rule of law research bases in Guangdong.
In recent years, the center has undertaken over 10 national and provincial projects focused on the legal rights and interests of overseas Chinese. Notably, it conducted the first major project funded by the National Social Science Fund in this field, addressing significant legal issues related to the protection of Chinese overseas compatriots. The center has hosted multiple seminars and published numerous academic articles, contributing to the advancement of research in overseas Chinese affairs.

Goals of the Wuyi University Branch Center
The establishment of the Wuyi University Branch Center is expected to enhance the research capabilities and outreach of the Jinan University center. By leveraging Jiangmen's status as the first overseas Chinese hometown in China, the new branch aims to create a platform for:
- Professional talent training
- Academic research
- Social services
This initiative will provide valuable insights and intellectual support for the development of overseas Chinese rule of law in Guangdong.
Seminar on Rule of Law Construction
Following the unveiling ceremony, a seminar titled Theory and Practice of Foreign Related Rule of Law Construction under the New Situation was held. Guided by the Guangdong Law Society and hosted by the Jiangmen Law Society, the seminar focused on:
- Theoretical frameworks for foreign-related rule of law
- Practical explorations in the context of the new international landscape
This seminar aimed to provide theoretical support and decision-making references for enhancing the province's foreign-related rule of law construction.
The establishment of the Wuyi University Branch Center marks a significant advancement in the research and support of overseas Chinese affairs and rule of law in Guangdong Province. By fostering collaboration between Jinan University and Wuyi University, this initiative promises to enhance the understanding and protection of the rights and interests of overseas Chinese, contributing to the broader goals of legal development and cultural exchange.
