The second meeting of the first academic committee of the Key Laboratory of Tumor Molecular Biology, Ministry of Education, Jinan University, took place on the morning of November 29th in Conference Room 116 of the College of Life Science and Technology. The meeting was attended by prominent figures in the field, including Professor Guan Xinyuan, Professor He Qingyu, Professor Jiang Yong, Professor Qi Zhong, Professor Zhuang Shimei, Professor Kang Tiebang, Professor Xie Dan, Professor Liu Feng, and Vice Director Professor Zhang Hao. Researcher Li Zhengqiu and other key researchers also participated. The session was chaired by Researcher Zhang Zhiyi, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory.

Zhou Qinghua, Dean of the College of Life Science and Technology, opened the meeting by warmly welcoming the attendees and expressing gratitude for their participation. He emphasized the importance of their guidance in directing the future development of the laboratory to support its high-level construction and quality advancement.
The director of the key laboratory, He Qingyu, provided a comprehensive annual work report that covered the laboratory's goals, significant progress made over the year, academic exchanges, and areas needing improvement. Following the presentation, the attending experts acknowledged the laboratory's achievements and engaged in discussions about its future construction and development, offering critical insights and suggestions.
Academic backup researchers—including Li Zhengqiu, Chen Xiaojia, Dr. Lin Yusheng, and Associate Researcher Hu Huifang—delivered reports on various research topics, such as:
- Construction of Novel Targeted Covalent Inhibitors
- Application of Zebrafish Models in Cancer Disease Research
- Targeting Unpharmaceuticable Phosphatases: New Mechanisms and Targets
- Molecular Mechanisms and Treatment Strategies of Tumor Metastasis and Drug Resistance
The committee members provided valuable feedback and detailed suggestions for each presentation, fostering new ideas for the researchers' upcoming projects.
After the presentations, members of the academic committee commended the laboratory's efforts and proposed insightful recommendations for its future. They encouraged the laboratory to refine its research focus, emphasize its unique academic characteristics, and enhance interdisciplinary integration across research areas. A special emphasis was placed on transitioning from basic research to translational applications.
Moving forward, the laboratory plans to incorporate the expert feedback into a long-term development strategy that emphasizes producing landmark achievements. It aims to attract and nurture outstanding young talents while striving for breakthroughs in large-scale platforms, teams, and projects.
