On December 7, Jinan University hosted the Second Symposium on Chinese Language Inheritance and Communication and International Chinese Language Education Discipline Construction. Organized by the School of Chinese Language and Literature, the conference focused on pressing issues in international Chinese education. Its primary goals were to enhance doctoral training in this field, promote the establishment of first-class national majors, and support the high-quality development of international Chinese education, ultimately aiding in the global dissemination of the Chinese language.

Chen Ying, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Jinan University, emphasized the institution's commitment to advancing international Chinese education and the global spread of Chinese culture. She noted that international Chinese education serves as a vital channel for educational exchange, contributing significantly to the construction of an educational powerhouse. As one of the first ten universities authorized to confer an International Doctoral Degree in Chinese Education, Jinan University aims to cultivate exceptional inheritors and promoters of Chinese language and culture, continuously adapting to new trends and optimizing talent training programs.
Liu Li, Vice Chairman of the National International Chinese Education Professional Degree Graduate Education Guidance Committee and former President of Beijing Language and Culture University, highlighted the importance of effectively conveying the essence of Chinese culture to the world. He stressed the need for a systematic training approach that aligns with national strategic goals, integrating theory and practice to support the sustainable development of international Chinese education.
During the opening ceremony, Huang Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of the Social Science Research Department at Jinan University, announced the establishment of the International Chinese Education Research Institute, which was officially unveiled at the event.
The symposium attracted nearly a hundred experts and scholars from various universities, including 18 specially invited speakers leading research in international Chinese education. Keynote presentations were delivered by prominent figures such as Professor Zhou Jianshe (Capital Normal University), Professor Wu Yinghui (Beijing Language and Culture University), and Professor Song Jihua (Beijing Normal University), among others.
This gathering provided a platform for in-depth discussions on the future of international Chinese education and its role in fostering cultural understanding globally.
