The College of Information Science and Technology at Jinan University has recently made significant strides in its integrated circuit discipline, highlighted by its new membership in the Guangzhou Semiconductor Association. This professional organization is dedicated to fostering the development of the semiconductor industry in Guangzhou.

In addition to joining the association, the College of Information Science and Technology, also known as the College of Microelectronics, has been designated as a RISC-V International Talent and Teacher Training Base. This initiative aims to cultivate exceptional technical talents in the RISC-V architecture, which is projected to see a compound annual growth rate of 47.4% in related System on Chip (SoC) products, indicating a pivotal trend in future chip development.

The college is also advancing its educational infrastructure with the ongoing construction of the Jinan University and Yingsi Integrated Circuit Industry Education Integration Practice Teaching Base. The Inspur V2.0 Integrated Circuit Technology Practice System is designed to enhance the quality of integrated circuit design education, aligning it with industry standards and facilitating student engagement with real-world enterprise projects.

(Two Undergraduate Teams Awarded Third Prize in the South China Region of the 8th National College Student Integrated Circuit Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.)

Moreover, two undergraduate teams from the college achieved third place in the South China division of the 8th National College Students Integrated Circuit Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in 2024. This competition is recognized as the largest and most prestigious university-level event in China's integrated circuit field and is the only professional competition in the Ministry of Education's A-class discipline category focused on integrated circuits.

Looking ahead, the Department of Electronic Engineering will continue to prioritize integrated circuit design and integrated systems, fostering scientific research and collaboration between academia and industry to strengthen Jinan University's core competencies in this critical field.
