On November 23, 2024, the Shenzhen Campus celebrated the 118th anniversary of Jinan University with a series of engaging activities, including the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Forum, the Carnival · Youth Blooming park tour, and an Alumni Teacher-Student Basketball Friendship Tournament. The event attracted over 200 participants, featuring prominent figures such as He Qingwen, Dean of the School of Entrepreneurship; Professor Zhang Yaohui, founder of the Entrepreneurship Laboratory; Ma Li, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Center; and alumni association leaders from both the Zhuhai and Shenzhen campuses.

During the opening ceremony, He Qingwen, Lin Xiaoling, and Chen Huanhui delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship education in nurturing high-quality talent equipped with international perspectives and practical abilities. The speakers outlined the university’s commitment to enhancing support for innovation and entrepreneurship on the Shenzhen campus, fostering deeper exchanges with alumni, and providing enriched resources and environments for students and faculty.

A key highlight of the forum was the unveiling of the WE Innovation and Entrepreneurship Laboratory aimed at Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese Youth at Jinan University, as well as the new Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center on the Shenzhen Campus. To further bolster innovation and entrepreneurship education, Shenzhen Dengxi Road Holdings Group and the Shenzhen Campus Alumni Association jointly donated 180,000 yuan to establish the Shenzhen Campus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund. Notably, nine distinguished alumni, including members of the Wenwu Team, Chen Weijun, and Yao Qiaoling, were appointed as the first off-campus innovation and entrepreneurship mentors at the Shenzhen campus.

The forum featured roundtable discussions addressing key topics such as enhancing student innovation and entrepreneurship education, stimulating students’ innovative thinking, and offering guidance on future entrepreneurial pathways. Keynote speeches from Zhang Yaohui, Ma Li, Chen Huanhui, and Chen Weijun highlighted their learning and entrepreneurial experiences. They inspired attendees to embrace challenges and seek opportunities, reiterating the significance of perseverance and continuous exploration in achieving personal and professional goals.

In addition, the campus hosted a student organization exhibition themed Carnival · Youth Blooming along with the alumni teacher-student basketball friendly match. These events aimed to establish a dynamic platform for innovation and entrepreneurship education, fostering the growth of innovative talent on the Shenzhen campus and contributing to the overall development of Jinan University’s initiatives in Shenzhen.

The day was filled with energy and camaraderie, reinforcing the university's commitment to cultivating a spirit of innovation and collaboration among its students and alumni. As Jinan University moves forward, the support from its alumni and the focus on entrepreneurship promise to play a significant role in shaping the future of its educational endeavors in Shenzhen.
