On November 15, the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao New Quality Productivity Forum took place at Jinan University’s Panyu campus. The forum aimed to foster discussions on integrating scientific and technological innovation within the Greater Bay Area.

At the opening ceremony, Xing Feng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and president of Jinan University, underscored the university's commitment to four orientations in leveraging its disciplinary strengths. He emphasized the need for institutional innovations to address challenges related to the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Xing stated that Jinan University aims to understand and match the technological needs of key industries in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area while enhancing scientific research, achievement transformation, and talent development to support the region's high-quality industrial growth.
The forum featured insights from notable figures such as Zhu Wei, deputy director of the Guangdong Development and Reform Commission; Zhu Wei, executive deputy director of the Guangdong Dawan District Office; Peng Xiaojun, president of the Shenzhen Institute of Dalian University of Technology; Yu Shuhong, president of the School of Science at Southern University of Science and Technology; Zhu Yizhun, vice president of the Australian University of Science and Technology; and Sun Hongzhe, vice president of the University of Hong Kong. They shared the latest research developments related to promoting integrated scientific and technological innovation, discussing trends in fields such as biomedicine, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and green low-carbon technologies.

A roundtable forum followed, focusing on promoting mutual promotion of industry and technology, chaired by Tao Feng, Dean of the Institute of Industrial Economics at Jinan University. The discussion included contributions from Professor Li Liejun of South China University of Technology, Liu Jian, CEO of BeiGene Innovation Center, Ye Nanbiao, vice general manager of Jinfa Technology, Xie Yong, CEO of Guangdong Zhongke Sci Tech Innovation Venture Capital Management Co., Ltd., and Chen Caifeng, Dean of the College of Chemistry and Materials Science at Jinan University. Together, they discussed the development plans for new quality productivity and shared innovative ideas to enhance high-quality productivity in the Greater Bay Area.
This forum was part of a series of academic activities celebrating the 118th anniversary of Jinan University and the 10th anniversary of the Panyu campus.
