On November 2, the Affiliated Primary School of Jinan University held its 2024 Track and Field Sports Meet at the Xuri Sports Field. The event was graced by the presence of Sun Yu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jinan University, along with representatives from various departments and colleges.

In his opening speech, Sun Yu emphasized the university's commitment to the growth and education of students at the affiliated primary schools, highlighting basic education as a vital public interest. He encouraged the schools to remain focused on their mission, adhere to a holistic educational approach, and prioritize students' physical and mental well-being. Sun urged students to embrace the spirit of sports, participate actively in physical activities, and cultivate a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

The opening ceremony featured an energizing display, with student formations including the national flag team, school flag team, drum horn team, colorful flag team, bouquet team, and aerobics team marching in formation. Each class showcased its unique culture and personality through performances in dance, martial arts, cheerleading, and role-playing. A contingent of sixth-grade parents added to the spirit of the event, cheering enthusiastically for the participants.

Following the flag-raising ceremony, Principal Chen Hongwei reviewed the achievements made in promoting Sunshine Sports over recent years. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Affiliated Primary School to leverage its sports facilities, organize diverse activities during breaks, and encourage students' participation in competitions to cultivate resilience and a positive mindset. The chief referee and representatives from the athletes also took the stage to reaffirm their dedication through a solemn oath.

The sports meet, lasting a full day, featured a range of competitive events that showcased the athletic spirit of both teachers and students. Athletes demonstrated their determination and skill, with some breaking school records. This year, four students set new records in six events, including the men’s and women’s 60 meters, women’s 100 meters, men’s 200 meters, women’s 200 meters, and men’s standing long jump.

The successful execution of the sports meet not only ignited students' enthusiasm for sports but also advanced the development of Sunshine Sports at the Affiliated Primary School. Looking ahead, the school plans to uphold its educational philosophy of “five educations simultaneously” and continue creating an optimal environment for the holistic development of its students.
