From November 8 to 10, the key team of Jinan University's Ten Thousand Talents Program Pioneers visited Yudu Jiayuan Community in Luodian County, Guizhou Province, to conduct research on community work and the progress of rural revitalization efforts. This initiative received strong support from local government and community leaders, facilitating in-depth discussions and exchanges with community members.
Yudu Jiayuan Community, established in 2016 as part of poverty alleviation efforts, is a provincial-level model for rule of law and a five-star demonstration community in Qiannan Prefecture. Covering 37,600 square meters, it houses 794 residential buildings and has relocated 747 households, significantly impacting local poverty alleviation.
The research team, led by Lu Wengang, Dean of the Bay Area International Intelligent Emergency and Security Development Research Institute, engaged with community leaders to explore various aspects of governance and community services. The community has implemented numerous initiatives to enhance livelihoods and prevent poverty relapse, including:
1. Employment Initiatives: The community has organized training programs in skills like childcare and welding, facilitating job placement for 1,648 laborers. They also developed platforms to connect residents with job opportunities and introduced local businesses to create jobs.
2. Livelihood Security: Efforts to ensure access to education and healthcare have been prioritized, with no school dropouts reported. The community has also improved housing and drinking water safety, enhancing overall living conditions.
3. Poverty Prevention: The community has established a monitoring system to address potential poverty relapse, analyzing 95 warning clues related to income and health.
4. Public Service Development: New facilities, including factories and elderly care centers, have been constructed to support local economies and improve public services.
5. Community Governance: The integration of community autonomy, rule of law, and moral governance has been emphasized, with initiatives to promote neighborly relations and volunteerism.
6. Youth Engagement: A variety of programs have been introduced to support left-behind children, including extracurricular activities and community service opportunities.
The research team’s visit aimed to strengthen the connection between academic research and practical governance, fostering collaboration in community development. As Yudu Jiayuan Community continues to build on its achievements, it remains committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents and advancing the goals of rural revitalization.
