On November 14th, Jinan University hosted an impactful academic forum and unveiling ceremony for its new Chaozhou Cultural Research Center, a provincial-level social science research base. The event was part of the university's celebrations for its 118th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of its Panyu campus.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Xue Xiaofeng, former vice chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Xing Feng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Jinan University, and Li Yihang, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and full-time vice chairman of the Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences.

In his opening remarks, Xing Feng emphasized the crucial role of traditional Chinese culture as the fundamental identity and foundation of the Chinese nation. He called for deeper understanding of the contemporary relevance of this cultural heritage and its importance in realizing the Chinese Dream. Xing urged experts and scholars to contribute their efforts in telling the stories of China, the Greater Bay Area, and Guangdong.

Li Yihang praised Jinan University's timely focus on the contemporary value of traditional Chinese culture through this high-level forum. He expressed hopes that the new Chaozhou Cultural Research Center would become an excellent 'southern highland' for traditional cultural research and a towering monument for academia in Lingnan. The Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences pledged full support to promote scholarly prosperity in the province.
After the unveiling ceremony, renowned academics delivered insightful presentations. Chen Pingyuan from Peking University reviewed the May Fourth Movement's legacy, while Tsinghua University's Zhang Guogang explored the modern significance of traditional Confucianism. Scholars from Jiangsu Normal University and Guangdong Normal University also shared their research findings.

During the roundtable discussion, experts from South China Normal University, Yangcheng Evening News Group, and Jinan University delved into the contemporary relevance of Chinese cultural traditions.
This landmark event was jointly organized by Jinan University's Chinese Culture Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Overseas Inheritance and Communication Collaborative Innovation Center, Panyu Campus Management Committee, Social Science Research Office, and School of Literature. It was attended by university leaders, social science researchers, and nearly 200 faculty and students.
