Founding Ceremony of Education Community and Alumni Association Held at Jinan University School of Humanities

On November 3, 2024, the School of Humanities at Jinan University celebrated the founding of its Education Community and Alumni Association in the Academic Lecture Hall of the Zhuhai Campus. The event was attended by a notable group of alumni and university leaders, including Ji Zong’an, former Vice President of Jinan University and President of the Alumni Association of the School of Literature; Liu Yujie, Director of the External Liaison Office; Lu Jianmin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhuhai Campus; and Qu Ting, Executive Director of the Management Committee. Nearly 200 alumni, teachers, and students participated, representing various sectors and industries.

Focus on Building a Collaborative Educational Ecosystem


The conference featured extensive discussions on the construction and promotion of the Education Community, emphasizing ecological construction, resource integration, and efficiency improvement.


1. New Patterns of Education: The Education Community aims to create a platform facilitating resource exchange and integration. It will leverage retired and professional teachers, as well as distinguished alumni, as role models for current students. Furthermore, external collaborations with experts and industry leaders will enhance practical education and expand opportunities for students.


2. Ensuring Resource Support for Sustainable Development: Liu Yujie read a congratulatory letter from the Jinan University Alumni Association, recognizing the founding of the Alumni Association of the School of Humanities. The conference also announced the launch of the Collaborative Education Fund, which seeks to support humanities students. This fund will enable practical opportunities and diverse platforms for student growth, ensuring effective use of resources.


3. Exploring Educational Ecology through Collaboration: Lu Jianmin emphasized that cultivating virtue and talent is paramount. He highlighted the partnership between Jinan University and local governments, particularly in the context of the Greater Bay Area. The ongoing development of the Jinan University Science and Technology Park was noted as a significant opportunity for enhancing educational models and driving regional economic development.

Strategic Goals and Vision


Presentations by faculty included insights from Zhang Yuming, who reiterated the importance of high-quality party building in delivering quality education. He emphasized the need to harness various community assets—including industry experts and alumni—to strengthen the Educational Community’s outreach and effectiveness.


Dean Yang Dan highlighted the School of Humanities’ commitment to cultivating well-rounded scholars with global perspectives and an appreciation for Chinese culture. She stressed the importance of aligning resource acquisition with student development to enhance their educational experience.


Sun Min, the president of the inaugural alumni association, underscored efforts to enhance the alumni network and provide comprehensive support for graduates. Wen Ting, a representative from the Zhuhai Communication and Expression Skills Development Association, discussed the importance of innovative teaching practices in cultivating students’ ability to navigate the complexities of the modern world.

The founding of the Education Community and Alumni Association marks a significant milestone for Jinan University’s School of Humanities. This initiative aims to foster collaboration among teachers, students, and alumni and strengthen the university’s role in education. By uniting various societal forces, the School of Humanities is poised to enhance its development and create new opportunities for talent cultivation in the future.
