From October 21 to 22, Jinan University’s Vice President Hong An led a delegation to Nanping City in Fujian Province for a series of inspections and exchanges aimed at advancing the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement between the university and the Nanping Municipal People's Government.

The visit included an inspection and discussion meeting hosted by the People's Government of Nanping City on October 22, attended by key officials including Li Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Nanping Municipal Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department. Vice President Hong An also delivered remarks at the meeting, which was presided over by Lin Qiu, the Deputy Mayor of Nanping. The meeting gathered representatives from various local government departments, including the Propaganda Department, Culture and Tourism Bureau, and Education Bureau, alongside members of the inspection team from Jinan University.

Central to the discussions were strategies for enhancing talent development and fostering cultural exchanges between the university and the local community. Both parties emphasized the importance of creating cooperation platforms, establishing practical bases, and organizing cultural research and exchange activities that leverage local resources, particularly for students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas.

The meeting underscored the commitment to sharing resources and expertise from Jinan University’s strong programs in pharmacy, life sciences, and medicine. The aim is to collaboratively develop pharmaceutical resources in northern Fujian and support local industry development through scientific research and technology transfer.

Hong An and local officials agreed on the need to reinforce their partnership, laying the groundwork for expanded cooperation and mutual benefit. They discussed strategies to solidify previous agreements, broaden the areas of collaboration, and contribute to the transformation of New Nanping. Specific initiatives discussed included the accelerated construction of Jinan University’s commemorative venues in Jianyang and enhancing research and educational collaborations.

During the visit, Vice President Hong An and his team visited Jianyang First Hospital and Jianyang No.2 Middle School, where they inspected the former site of Jianyang School of Jinan University. They also met with descendants of past students from the Jianyang period to discuss the historical significance and future development of the site.

Accompanying Vice President Hong An were Liu Yujie, Director of the External Liaison Office; Zhang Dongmei, Dean of the School of Pharmacy; Zhou Qinghua, Dean of the School of Life Science and Technology; Zhang Shuixing, Executive Deputy Director of the Medical Department; and Su Yunsheng, Deputy Minister of the Party Committee Propaganda Department.
