As the new semester unfolds, the School of Humanities at Jinan University is dedicated to deepening its commitment to the educational philosophy of teacher-student integration and mutual learning. With a focus on fostering a nurturing atmosphere encapsulated by the theme humanistic care, you and I are together, the school has initiated a series of activities that intertwine welcoming efforts, entrance education, and the celebration of Teacher's Day.
To kick off the semester, a training meeting for new class teachers and counselors took place on September 5th. This session aimed to enhance management, service, and teaching skills among educators, based on a foundation of strong educational ideals. The meeting featured a special presentation from Associate Professor Zhou Mingfeng, a celebrated Good Teacher in My Heart, who shared insights on effective teaching strategies. Zhang Yuming, Secretary of the Party Branch of the college, emphasized the crucial role of class teachers and counselors as guides in students' growth, underscoring their responsibility to integrate education on ideals and beliefs into daily interactions.

Zhou Mingfeng underscored the importance of fostering trust and emotional connections with students, while Dai Xiaofeng, Deputy Secretary, highlighted the collaborative efforts necessary for promoting students’ progress and well-being. The meeting also laid out plans for welcoming new students to ensure a smooth enrollment process.
Following the meeting, a collaborative effort among college leaders, class teachers, counselors, and party member volunteers took place. They visited the new student dormitories, inspecting and enhancing the facilities to create a warm, welcoming environment for incoming students.

On September 6th, the college welcomed 426 new undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds. Senior students were appointed as guides to assist newcomers throughout their transition, from addressing queries prior to arrival to providing hands-on support during check-in. Welcome points and parent rest areas were established at main entrances, with volunteers stationed at dormitory buildings to help students move in, alleviating their anxiety and fostering a sense of community.

Once the new students settled in, college leaders and counselors engaged directly with them in their dormitories, encouraging open communication and collaboration as they embark on their college journeys filled with diversity, integration, unity, and mutual assistance.
On September 9th, a welcoming conference was held under the theme Exploration, Exchange, Dream Building, and Voyage at the International Conference Center in the Science and Technology Park. Dean Yang Dan inspired new students to explore their interests actively.
The conference featured a First Lesson of Famous Teachers delivered by Associate Professor Rong Hao, Deputy Director of Administration of Zhuhai Campus Management Committee. He drew from the university's motto to encourage students to recognize the importance of spiritual values such as compassion, sincerity, and resilience. Sharing personal experiences and stories of students pursuing their dreams, he motivated newcomers to embody the determination to “march forward even among millions.”
On September 10th, the college celebrated the 40th Teacher's Day with a symposium focused on understanding the spirit of educators. This gathering highlighted the exchange of dreams between teachers and students and shared stories of exemplary educators, illustrating the noble professional ethics and values that define the teaching profession. Faculty, staff, counselors, and student representatives came together to share insights, fostering a collective growth experience.
Through these initiatives, the School of Humanities is actively cultivating a culture of shared commitment to personal and academic development, embodying the spirit of educators in every facet of the academic journey.
