A delegation from the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University visited Hong Kong from July 29 to 30, 2024, following an invitation from the Hong Kong Alumni Association of Jinan University. The delegation, led by Dean Zheng Xiaofei and Dean Zhang Xiaoshen of the School of Nursing, engaged in productive discussions with key officials at the Hong Kong Medical and Health Bureau.

During the visit, the delegation, which included Wu Xuanfeng, Director of the Hong Kong Office of Jinan University, met with Li Xiayin, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Medical and Health Bureau, as well as Li Chongquan, Chief Assistant Secretary General, and Senior Advisor Fan Jingwen. The talks centered on enhancing medical security services, fostering the cultivation of medical talent, and pursuing collaborative scientific research initiatives. The aim was to jointly explore avenues for developing a healthier bay area.

In the meeting, Zheng Xiaofei presented an overview of the First Affiliated Hospital's recent collaborations with Hong Kong and Macao, highlighting joint training programs in medical and nursing fields. The hospital has also established partnerships with Macao in various specialties, including orthopedics, cardiology, anesthesiology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, hematology, and nephrology. Wu Xuanfeng provided insights into the enrollment processes for medical programs and the establishment of medical alumni organizations for Jinan University in Hong Kong.

Li Chongquan elaborated on the medical and health priorities outlined in the 2023 Hong Kong Chief Executive’s Policy Address, offering a comprehensive analysis of the local medical landscape and the healthcare needs of residents.

Deputy Director Li Xiayin expressed warm regard for Jinan University and its First Affiliated Hospital, emphasizing the importance of Hong Kong as a significant destination for mainland Chinese students. She welcomed the delegation and underscored the potential for enhanced communication and cooperation in the medical and health sectors.

This visit has successfully established a clear roadmap for future collaboration between the First Affiliated Hospital and the Hong Kong Medical and Health Bureau. The First Affiliated Hospital remains committed to its strategic vision as an Overseas Chinese Hospital + Famous Hospital, and it aims to contribute positively to the ongoing development of a Healthy Bay Area.
