On July 28, 2024, the Hong Kong Alumni Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Jinan University celebrated its fifth anniversary and inaugurated its second council with a vibrant ceremony in Hong Kong. The event drew over 300 attendees, including prominent figures such as Hu Jun, President of the Alumni Association and former President of Jinan University, and Pan Jun, Director of the Coordination Department at the Liaison Office of the Hong Kong SAR Government.

Key attendees also included Liang Yan, Director of the United Front Work Department of the School Party Committee; Liu Yujie, Director of the School's External Liaison Office; Zhu Xiaofeng, Dean of the School of Chinese Medicine; Ou Haoting, President of the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Alumni Association; and Shi Chongrong, Honorary President and Council Member.

During the ceremony, Dean Zhu Xiaofeng highlighted the school’s recent developments and accomplishments, emphasizing the association's pivotal role in integrating Chinese medicine resources in Hong Kong. He praised the alumni association for its significant contributions to the community and its efforts to train Chinese medicine students. The Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Alumni Association stands as a testament to patriotism and dedication, fostering both national stability and the rich tradition of our alma mater, Zhu stated. He called upon alumni to unite in service to the Hong Kong community and to support the national Belt and Road Initiative along with the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In his welcome speech, Ou Haoting, President of the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Association, expressed gratitude to the school and alumni for their steadfast support. He reflected on the association's contributions to Hong Kong society, including providing free community clinics and organizing educational lectures on Chinese medicine for secondary schools. Our commitment to aiding vulnerable groups and enhancing public health remains unwavering, he noted. He also mentioned the association's active participation in training initiatives, such as the Senior Fellow Program for aspiring practitioners.
The ceremony concluded with Ou Haoting leading the new council members in an oath of office, witnessed by Hu Jun and Liang Yan. They officially received their appointment letters, marking a new chapter in the organization’s mission to advance the field of traditional Chinese medicine in Hong Kong.
