President Xing Feng of Jinan University in China and Vice President Marika Taylor of the University of Birmingham in the UK recently convened to fortify academic ties and cooperation between their respective institutions. The meeting, held on June 21st, marked a significant step towards enhancing the exchange of knowledge and resources between the two universities. Additionally, the delegates attended the 2024 graduation ceremony of the Joint College of the University of Birmingham at Jinan University, commonly known as Jinan-Birmingham College.
During the meeting, President Xing Feng warmly welcomed Vice President Marika Taylor and her delegation, expressing gratitude for the longstanding support from the University of Birmingham. He highlighted Jinan-Birmingham College as a pivotal achievement in the collaborative efforts between the two universities, emphasizing its importance in fostering educational partnerships. President Xing Feng affirmed Jinan University's commitment to further bolstering Jinan-Birmingham College and transforming it into a flagship institution for Sino-foreign cooperative education in China, while also anticipating continued support and investment from the University of Birmingham.
Vice President Marika Taylor commended the success of Jinan-Birmingham College as a testament to the fruitful collaboration between the two institutions in the realm of Sino-foreign education. She expressed eagerness for deeper engagement across diverse academic fields and lauded Jinan-Birmingham College for its recognition as one of the top 20 outstanding instances of Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions in 2024.
The discussions between the representatives delved into the expansion of cooperative education initiatives, strategic directions for collaboration in the next five years, as well as joint interdisciplinary research ventures encompassing areas such as dentistry, biomedicine, regional economics, emergency management, and artificial intelligence science. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to advancing academic exchange and research cooperation for mutual benefit and progress.
