JNU hosts the Fourth Phase of the 2024 Guangdong Province University Laboratory Construction and Safety Management Activity, along with the Second Guangdong Province University Laboratory Safety Knowledge Inter-School Invitational Micro Video Competition

On May 31, 2024, the 2024 Guangdong Provincial Laboratory Construction and Safety Management Activity (Phase IV) and the Second Guangdong Provincial University Laboratory Safety Knowledge Inter-School Invitational Micro Video Competition were successfully held at the Zeng Xianzi Science Museum's International Conference Hall in the Shipai Campus. This event, hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and facilitated by our university, drew participation from over 370 leaders, teachers, and students from 46 universities across the province, including prestigious institutions like Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, and others.

During the event, Vice President Weng Jian of Jinan University and Director Zhang Jianfeng of the Guangdong Provincial Education Equipment Center delivered insightful speeches emphasizing the importance of laboratory safety in promoting high-quality development and cultivating moral and talented individuals. They highlighted the significance of strengthening laboratory safety through informatization construction and knowledge competitions to fortify the overall security landscape.

Liu Qihui, Director of JNU's Laboratory and Equipment Management Department, showcased the intelligent control and monitoring system for laboratory safety and presented the results through video demonstrations. Additionally, the Micro Video Competition showcased creative and engaging representations of laboratory safety from participants across 16 universities, culminating in the crowning of winning entries such as The Most Dazzling Safety Wind from Sun Yat-sen University and Laboratory Chemical Safety from JNU's Drug safety team.

The Second Guangdong Province University Laboratory Safety Knowledge Intercollegiate Invitational, themed Wisdom Gathering in the Bay Area, Guarding the Future, aimed to unite universities in the Greater Bay Area to collectively elevate laboratory safety standards and ensure a secure future for schools and their constituents. This competition featured a comprehensive approach with micro video and skills competitions, drawing participation from 12 teams in the micro video competition and 106 teams in the skills competition from JNU. Notably, representatives from JNU School of Stomatology, School of Basic Medicine and Public Health, School of Life Science and Technology, and First Clinical Medical College achieved victory in the skills competition, underscoring our commitment to excellence in laboratory safety.

Furthermore, JNU's Zou Rixiang was recognized with the Best Design Award for her exceptional contribution to the competition's logo solicitation activity, solidifying a position of honor as the selected logo for this year's intercollegiate invitation competition.
