The first South China Seminar on New Structural Economics and the Seminar on Chinese-Style Modernization and High-Quality Development was held at Jinan University on Nov. 25. The seminar was co-sponsored by Peking University's Institute of New Structural Economics and JNU's School of Economics.

Xia Quan, deputy secretary of the JNU Party Committee, said that the seminar, with its theme of Chinese-style modernization and high-quality development, has made new explorations and contributions to the theoretical innovation of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. And he believed that the conference will stimulate new economic ideas and build a more innovative academic community.

Lin Yifu, dean of the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University, delivered a lecture titled The Path to Promote Chinese-style Modernization and Achieve High-quality Development from the Perspective of New Structural Economics. Huang Kainan, Vice president of the Party School of Shandong Provincial Committee of CPC, spoke on Exploration of Institutional Economics Theory Innovation from the Perspective of Chinese Modernization. Liu Gang, Director of the Institute of Economics at Nankai University, discussed Development of China's Artificial Intelligence Industry. Finally, Gong Gang, Dean of the School of Economics at Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, presented a lecture titled Study on the New Inflection Point of the Kuznets Curve.

In the roundtable forum, 12 experts and scholars conducted academic exchanges and discussions on Chinese modernization and high-quality development and new structural economics.

Eight parallel forums covered a wide range of topics, including new structural economics, political economy, macroeconomics, digital economy, industrial economy, regional economy, open economy and international trade. The authors of papers from universities and research institutes communicated with other participating scholars on the significance of the selected topics and their papers' research methodology.
