The Guangdong-Macao College Students' Autumn Sports Meeting's first Return Cup competition took place at JNU's Shao Yi Fu Gymnasium on Nov. 26. The event celebrated the 24th anniversary of Macao’s return to China and promoted sports exchange between students from Guangdong and Macao.

The event received full support from the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, the Federation of Macao Sport General Association and JNU.

The association organized 33 students from the University of Macao, Macao University of Science and Technology, the Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macao and the University of Saint Joseph to participate in the competition in Guangzhou.

Competitive events included three-on-three basketball and badminton, in addition to recreational sports activities.

A University of Macao student who competed in both basketball and tug-of-war said, “These competitions not only improved my skills but also provided an opportunity for interaction between students from Macao and Guangdong. It was a lot of fun to exchange skills together. I have made quite a few new friends here, and I plan to visit Guangzhou more often in the future.”

More than 3,000 students from Macao are studying at universities in Guangdong. A series of cultural exchange activities for Macao youth has been held with the support of the Guangdong Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR and relevant units in Guangdong and Guangzhou.  Activities have included the Macao Youth Cultural Festival, the Macao Youth Greater Bay Area Internship, Employment and Entrepreneurship Launch the Guangfu Cultural Day Trip and the Return Cup, facilitating the integration of more Macao youth into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
