The 2023 high-level forum on rural revitalization in Guangdong was held at Jinan University on Oct. 28. Experts and scholars gathered to discuss topics including how to develop and strengthen the rural collective economy and high-quality population development.

JNU Vice President Rao Min said participants exchanged ideas and experience on agricultural and rural development, giving them a deeper understanding and a more accurate grasp of the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy.

The forum released the 2023 Research Report on the High-Quality Development Survey of Thousand Villages in Guangdong. According to the report, 49% of administrative villages in Guangdong have taken measures to promote the transfer of agricultural land to other farmer or organization. Nearly 60% of the villages chosen as samples in various regions of the province have local industries with local characteristics; 94% carried out the policy of construction of beautiful towns; 100% have taken action to improve the living environment; and 86% carried out construction work related to the Ecological Belt and Green Road programs.

Experts and scholars also discussed topics including Solving the problem of small-scale farmers is the key to realizing the Chinese style of agricultural substitution, Rethinking rural revitalization in the international context, Vigorously developing a new rural collective economy and Rural collective economy and carbon peak carbon neutrality.
