The 2023 JNU Swimming Competition, on the theme First-Rate University, First-Rate Physical Education, was held at the swimming pool on Shipai Campus on Oct. 19.

Competing against 19 other teams, the School of Stomatology's won first place with a total score of 95 points. Li Yuhan from Sihai College won first place in the women's 50-meter freestyle and butterfly, while Jiang Rendong from the School of Stomatology won first place in the men's 50-meter butterfly and 100-meter freestyle. 

Liang Fuqiang from the School of Stomatology and Zheng Junhao from the College of Chemistry and Materials Science won the men's 50-meter backstroke and breaststroke, respectively. Lei Zitong from the International School and Cai Xiaowen from the School of Economics led in the women's category. In the men's 100-meter backstroke and breaststroke, Zheng Zulong from the College of Journalism and Communication and Ye Tianlang from the College of Foreign Studies secured first place, respectively. Huang Wei from Jinan University-University of Birmingham Joint Institute at Jinan University and Zeng Ying from the College of Life Science and Technology were the women's champions. Lin Lixing from Sihai College ranked first in the men's 50-meter freestyle. Yun Leyi from the Law School won first place in women's 100-meter freestyle. Sihai College took first place in both the men’s 4x50-meter freestyle relay and the mixed 4x50-meter medley relay.

Huang Yixin of the 2020 stomatology class, who came in second place in the women’s 50-meter backstroke, said basic skills were crucial for learning swimming, which requires gradual training and perseverance.

It doesn't matter if I didn't win this competition, said Montgomery Berrones, an Ecuadorean student in the 2022 international trade class. Participating in the competition allows me to make a lot of friends, which is a great thing.”
