Training Course for Principals and Vice Principals Opens

The six-day Training Course on National Conditions for Principals and Vice Principals, jointly organized by Jinan University and Hong Kong Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, opened at JNU on June 24.

At the opening ceremony, JNU Vice President Zhang Hong exressed appreciation for the trust and support of the Guangdong Department of Education and the Hong Kong Education Bureau. He warmly welcomes participants in the education program, as well as the leaders and guests in attendance. 

Tung Wah's board chairman, Stephen Wai, thanked the Guangdong Department of Education and the Hong Kong Education Bureau for their support and assistance in facilitating this cooperation. Because of the close relationship, he said, Tung Wah had signed a five-year cooperation agreement with JNU 

Jeff Sze, deputy director of the Hong Kong Education Bureau, thanked the Guangdong Department of Education for its strong support for the training course and other activities between schools in the mainland and Hong Kong, such as the Sister School Program and the Inspection Program in high school seniors' Citizenship and Social Development curriculum. He also made positive comments on JNU's support for Hong Kong's education development.

Zhu Chaohua, the Level I Bureau Rank Official of the Guangdong Department of Education, said he was pleased to see that JNU and Tung Wah had reached a five-year cooperation agreement. He said he looked forward to participants' gaining a deep understanding of China's social economy and the latest developments through social investigations and experiences so they can promote national education.

This training course is the first project jointly conducted by JNU and Tung Wah under the five-year cooperation agreement framework. Thirty trainees came from pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, and special schools under Tung Wah Group. The course included classes, lectures, visits and exchange activities, comprehensively deepening participants’ understanding of Chinese culture and the overall national development situation, and promoting the integration of education between Guangdong and Hong Kong. Founded in 1870, Tung Wah is the oldest and largest charitable organization in Hong Kong. It has been committed to providing diversified services for Hong Kong citizens, including health care, education and community services.
