JNU's Institute of One Country, Two Systems and Basic Law hosted a forum on the theme Promoting the Development of the Northern Metropolitan Area of Hong Kong and Accelerating the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area on June 1. Also held were the establishment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Think Tank Federation of Guangdong and the Greater Bay Area Think Tank Alliance of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, as well as the signing ceremony for strategic cooperation agreements.

Yang Jian, former deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government of Hong Kong, announced the establishment of the two think tanks, pointing out that the think tanks will be fruitful as the Greater Bay Area's development accelerates. Liu Qiyu, deputy director of the Guangdong Party Committee's Propaganda Department, said the establishment of the think tanks was an important measure to implement the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and to help the development of the Greater Bay Area, and would provide intellectual support to promote high-quality development and support Hong Kong and Macao in better integrating into China's overall development. Wong Yuen-shan, head of the Policy Unit of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong government, said the think tanks' establishment was an exciting event conducive to strengthening information-sharing among the Greater Bay Area's three regions and promoting high-quality research results. The Chief Executive's Policy Unit highly values and expects more exchanges and cooperation with think tank experts, Wong said.

JNU President Song Xianzhong welcomed the distinguished leaders and experts. JNU Deputy Party Secretary Sun Yu said the two think tanks would take the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement as an opportunity to promote exchange and cooperation to a new level, thus better serving the various major national and regional strategies.

(The forum)

In the forum, experts from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao summarized and refined the construction experience of the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area. They also explored theoretical research and advancement for the further integration of Hong Kong and Macao into China's overall development and the synergistic high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area, jointly contributing to its integration and development.
