To promote the development of scientific research and educational innovation in Guangdong and Hong Kong, and to promote academic research cooperation between Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and JNU, Guo Yike, principal vice president of HKUST, visited JNU on May 9, meeting with Xia Quan, deputy secretary of the JNU Party Committee.
Xia briefed Guo on JNU's recent development. He said he hoped the two sides would build on their original cooperation and explore innovations in discipline integration and student training to contribute to the creation of a high-level research platform in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Pan Qiliang, director of the Social Sciences Research Department, described the achievements and development of the humanities and social sciences at JNU.
Guo said the two universities had closely collaborated in basic science as well as innovative research. He said he hoped they would further expand interuniversity cooperation and strengthen cooperation in the humanities, arts and social sciences, especially in the study of communication in the age of artificial intelligence and a new generation of overseas Chinese scientific and technological talents. He also suggested that the two sides conduct regular academic exchanges through seminars, jointly launch collaborative research topics and promote the development of their disciplines.
After the meeting, Guo visited JNU's history museum and library.
