The Guangdong University leadership-level Symposium on Laboratory Safety Construction and Management was held at JNU on April 26. During the symposium, which took place both online and off, leaders of 33 colleges and universities in Guangdong and 25 mid-level cadres from JNU participated in training at the main venue, with more than 13,000 teachers and students watching the live video online.

Li Biliang, deputy director general of the Guangdong Department of Education, said the symposium was an important opportunity to further promote the high-quality development of lab safety in the province's colleges and universities. He said he had made arrangements for the next step in laboratory safety management.

Analyzing typical cases of university labs, He Shengzhuang, chief engineer of the Guangdong Department of Emergency Management, lectured on requirements of related rules and laws, safety risk points, problems and suggestions for action.

JNU Vice President Weng Jian said JNU would take this training as an opportunity to study and ensure the implementation of lab safety construction and management, strengthening the security defense line.

Invited experts including Kong Jian, project director of the Center for Scientific Research and Development in Higher Education Institutes, and Ai Desheng, head of the Ministry of Education's Laboratory Safety Inspection Team, spoke on such topics as the current status of the ministry's lab safety inspection work and the key points of its guiding documents on university lab safety.
