Jinan University held the launch ceremony of the 70th anniversary of the College of Chinese Language and Culture (CCLC), also known as the Guangzhou Overseas Chinese School, and the appointment ceremony of the president of its Alumni Association on April 15.

CCLC is a specialized college at JNU to promote Chinese language education, international Chinese education, and pre-college education in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas, JNU Vice President Hong An said. It is also one of the largest and foremost bases of Chinese language education in China, which has trained more than 100,000 students from over 100 countries at home and abroad. Standing at the new beginning, the college will continue to contribute to educational improvement and Chinese culture inheritance, Hong said.

At the appointment ceremony, Liang Zhongjing and Lai Ningchang, members of JNU's board of trustees, were appointed honorary president and president of the CCLC Alumni Association, respectively. On behalf of JNU, Hong signed a cooperation agreement with Ningchang, chairman of the Donlink Group, a comprehensive company involved in machinery, investment, grain and oil, and established the JNU-Donlink Fund for Talent Development.

Afterward, representatives of teachers and students recited the poem Walking Toward Hope, Writing a Great Chapter.”Guests and JNU's leaders came to the stage and jointly announced the start of the college's 70th-anniversary celebration.

That day, the Southeast Asian Food Festival and a friendly basketball game among teachers, students and alumni were also held in the college.
