JNU teams won first and third prizes in the micro-video contest and second and third prizes in the skills contest in the finals of the Guangdong First Inter-University Invitational for Laboratory Safety Knowledge on April 15, the eighth National Security Education Day. They competed with teams from Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Technology and South China University of Technology, where the invitational was held.

The competition had four parts: video display, ideation elaboration, live question- and-answer and expert review. The teams No Fraud in Laboratory Team from JNU's College of Life Science and Technology and School of Journalism and Communication won first prize; Proximity Between Lab and News Team from the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine second prize, and Knowing No Name from the College of Arts an honorable mention.

In the intense skill contest, the teams competed in the two rounds, a promotion contest and qualifying competition, with required questions, tie-breaker questions and practical operation. The Three Wan team from the College of Life Science and Technology won second prize; the Lab Safety Deep in Mind team from the College of Pharmacy third prize; and the Skilled Students of Mr. Wang Team from the Institute of Advanced Wear and Corrosion-Resistant and Functional Material, and the All Right team from the College of Life Science and Technology honorable mentions, respectively. 

The competition was launched in October, with 115 teams from JNU registering. After online questions and answers, the school preliminary round, the school final round and other parts, three works were selected for the micro-video competition and four for the finals of the inter-university invitational, which was supported and guided by the Guangdong Department of Education and the Guangdong Institute of Higher Education.
