JNU held its 2023 Dean's Conference in the Administration Building on April 4. The meeting discussed how to promote discipline construction and high-level development in the new stage of China's development. President Song Xianzhong and Vice Presidents Rao Min, Zhang Ronghua, Ye Wencai and Weng Jian spoke to more than 90 participants, including heads of departments, schools, and research institutes.

Song analyzed methods of JNU discipline construction and high-level development in three aspects. In the work ahead, he said, it will be necessary to integrate education, technology and talents systematically to enhance the comprehensive influence of JNU and its disciplines. Rao called on all departments to implement government procurement requirements, strictly prohibiting procurement without a budget or a plan. Zhang promised that JNU would create an environment where talents are recognized, loved, respected, and utilized. Weng provided four specific suggestions about JNU's budget: that it take full advantage of equipment loans to increase the sharing rate of large laboratory instruments and teaching equipment; that JNU further promote the reform and development of massive open online courses (MOOCs) and online education; that it effectively enhance the level and safety management ability of laboratories; and that the school strictly abide by awareness of integrity and self-discipline.

Focusing on their respective business, the heads of JNU departments spoke on policies including the 2023 high-level university fund allocation plans; talent recruiting and funding policies; school finance and equipment loans; instrument and equipment demonstration; and equipment bidding and procurement.
