To implement the Guangdong Department of Education's Emergency Notice on Further Strengthening Laboratory Safety in the Provincial Education System, JNU Vice President Weng Jian led a team to inspect laboratory safety on the main campus on March 14.

While visiting laboratories in the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Biomedical Translational Research Institute, the School of Medicine and other units, the team inspected management in terms of hazardous chemical storage, waste disposal, gas cylinder management, equipment operation and fire equipment configuration. Weng stressed that safety management should be improved by strictly carrying out all safety regulations, continuously strengthening daily safety inspections, accurately rooting out hidden hazards, ensuring closed-loop management, and resolutely preventing and containing accidents. He said, safety education and training should be enhanced to ensure that everyone permitted into a lab has been trained and  passed examinations to understand the hidden risks in experiment, while master equipment operation as well as emergency disposal procedure.
