Prof. Fei Jia's team in JNU's School of Medicine has published a research paper online in the International Journal of Biological Sciences. The paper, titled Single-cell resolution reveals RalA GTPase expanding hematopoietic stem cells and facilitating of BCR-ABL1-driven leukemogenesis in a CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing mouse model, reveals that RalA, a small GTPase in the Ras downstream signaling pathway, accelerates the development of chronic myelogenous leukemia. The research used animal models of leukemia.

The first authors are Yin Zhao, a Ph.D. student at JNU; Su Rui and Wang Xiuyuan, postgraduates at JNU; and Ge Lanlan, a postdoctoral researcher at the Second Clinical Medical College of Jinan University (Shenzhen People's Hospital). The corresponding authors are Fei; Zhang Keda, a postdoctoral researcher in the College of Pharmacy at Shenzhen Technology University; and Dr. Deng Lan of the hematology department of Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital.
