To enhance laboratory safety management, JNU Deputy Party Secretary Sun Yu and Vice President Weng Jian each led a research group to inspect laboratory safety from May 17 to May 20.

After reports on laboratory safety management from the heads of relevant colleges and laboratories, the inspection team focused on inspecting lab safety management in terms of the environment, access control, firefighting facilities, water and electricity, ventilation system and emergency showers. The team suggested improvements and issued requirements for the hidden safety hazards exposed in the inspection.

After the inspection, Sun proposed that safety awareness be improved; inspections be carried out to control potential hazards; practical steps be taken to protect infrastructure, and every effort be made to safeguard life and property for the faculty and students.

Weng gave working instructions for lab-use planning and construction and delivering safety acceptance check on new, rebuilt laboratory projects; regular safety inspections of lab infrastructure; and fulfilling responsibilities level by level to build a solid defensive line for lab safety.
