The JNU Association for Science and Technology held the fourth session of the 983 Interdisciplinary Innovation Forum and the Interdisciplinary Research Symposium on Sports on May 19.

Speaking at the forum, Vice President Zhang Ronghua said JNU attached great importance to the development of physical education and was proactive in propelling the sports industry. He also stressed that since physical education is now facing an unprecedented opportunity to flourish, JNU should use its strength in fundamental studies and interdisciplinary research, he said, and enhance integration of physical education into other disciplines, fostering a new vision of Sports Plus research interdisciplinary innovation.

Xu Ze, executive director of the Su Bingtian Center for Speed Research and Training, described the center and physical education at JNU.  He said the center aimed to build a world-class comprehensive sprint training base and provided strong support for JNU's high-quality physical education.

Participants had an in-depth discussion on Sports Plus interdisciplinary research and put forward some preliminary ideas and suggestions on integrating physical education into other disciplines, according to the situation of their colleges and teams.

Yu Weijian, director of the Sports Industry, Science and Education Publicity Department of the Guangdong Administration of Sports, said the administration would strive to link high-level sports training with high-caliber scientific research; strengthen communication with the Guangdong Science and Technology Department; and promote the establishment of key and major sports technology platforms and projects.

Gao Hao, director of JNU Science and Technology Research Department, said the 983 Interdisciplinary Innovation Forum aimed to provide an integrated platform for university researchers from different disciplines to communicate, cooperate and organize projects. The forum gives full play to JNU’s disciplinary advantages; promotes the advancement of technology-driven sports; and advances the establishment of national, provincial and ministerial platforms and projects.
