With the coming of 2022, we would like to extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to all the faculty, staff, students, retired comrades, board members and alumni at home and abroad. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to all segments of society at home and abroad for their concern and support for our school’s development in 2021.

Over the last year, Jinan University has thoroughly implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on the occasion of his inspection of JNU. Under the strong leadership of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, the Guangdong Party Committee and the Guangdong provincial government, JNU has worked hard to polish the gold-lettered signboard of a century-old overseas Chinese school and achieved remarkable results in the new journey of development by leaps and bounds.

JNU has gathered a strong force by upholding and strengthening overall Party leadership, thoroughly studying Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and carrying out study and education on the CPC's history.

JNU has adhered to the mission of fostering virtue through education; strengthened ideological and political education and guidance; and focused on cultivating new people of the times who are responsible for rejuvenation. Thus, JNU has made new achievements in the construction of its talent team, and new progress in the education and teaching of students at all levels and all majors.

JNU has deepened the characteristics of schools for overseas Chinese and served the overall situation of United Front work. JNU has comprehensively upgraded its systems of ideological and political curriculum and teaching materials for Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas. Taking the lead of the three national liberal arts research platforms, JNU has improved our ability to provide advice and political consultation by strengthening the construction of high-end think tanks, telling Chinese stories well and making JNU's voice heard. 

JNU has further promoted its construction of a Double-First-Class University and high-level university; revised its charter, and formulated its development schedule in adherence to the 14th Five-Year Plan. Aiming at the country's major needs and focusing on key core technologies, JNU's scientific research and innovation capabilities have been continuously enhanced. JNU's various rankings have steadily ascended, and its comprehensive strength and influence at home and abroad have continued to improve.

JNU has promoted the coordinated development of five campuses in three cities, deeply integrated into and serving the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The second-phase construction of the Panyu Campus in Guangzhou was officially approved by the National Development and Reform Commission -- a milestone in JNU's development in the new era. The second phase of the Science and Technology Park on the Zhuhai Campus is ready to proceed, and the construction of the Shenzhen campus continues to advance.

JNU successfully held a series of activities celebrating the 115th anniversary of its founding and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Board of Trustees, which gathered the majestic strength of Jinan people around the world, accelerated JNU's development and spread China's brilliant culture abroad.

Jinan teachers and students worked hard in their fields and won honors for the school. Prof. Su Bingtian ran the Asian Speed Record at the Tokyo Olympics, making Jinan University a popular 9.83 [Su's record speed in the game] University all over the Internet.

Standing at a new starting point after 115 years of trials and hardships, Jinan University will continue to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his inspection of Jinan University. With self-improvement, courage and perseverance in mind, JNU will maintain its original goal of being an overseas Chinese university, and strive to promote its construction as a Double First-Class University and high-level university. JNU will continue to write a new chapter in the development of higher education for overseas Chinese.
