Su Bingtian, an associate professor in JNU's School of Physical Education, presented JNU the sneakers he wore when he set an Asian record of 9.83 seconds at last summer's Tokyo Olympics in the men's 100m semifinal at the 48th sports meeting from Nov. 18 to 20. 

In the opening speech, JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng said deep, ardent patriotism and aggressive competitive spirit had flowed in the blood of Jinan people during JNU's 115-year history. In addition, he said, an emphasis on sports and their development has always been a tradition and important feature at JNU. He said JNU would continue to promote the reform of its sports and make new progress in its sports undertakings.

JNU has a profound sports tradition and humanistic spirit, said a student representative, Xie Siyi, a 2019 JNU postgraduate in international business, who won gold medals in the individual and synchronized diving events of the men's 3-meter springboard at the Tokyo Olympics. 

JNU's Martial Arts Team, Hip-Hop Dance Association, Dragon and Lion Team, and other groups performed Brave to Climb the Peak, Energetic Campus, Dragon and Lion Present Auspiciousness and other programs.

JNU President Song Xianzhong declared the sports meeting open and took a lab around the field with teachers and students.

The sports meeting was divided into students and faculty-staff groups, with 35 competitions and nearly 2,300 students and teachers participating. The School of Physical Education and the School of Economics won first place in men's and women's team scores, respectively; the First Clinical Medical College (the First Affiliated Hospital) ranked highest in staff group scores, and the Labor Union of University Office ranked highest in the staff balloon volleyball competition.
