Two JNU teams won awards in the Guangzhou sub-race of the seventh China Collegiate Programming Contest (CCPC), held online Nov. 13 and 14. The competition brought together 230 formal teams from universities including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University and Sun Yat-sen University. In the end, 23 teams won Gold Awards, 44 won Silver Awards and 67 won Bronze Awards. JNU’s Light Chaser team won a Gold Award, and the Time Penalty Motivation team won a Bronze, making JNU the second-place winner overall.

Light Chaser consists of Mai Jun and Wen Yinhua, sophomores in the College of Information Science and Technology, and Wen Jianwei, a sophomore from the University of Birmingham. Time Penalty Motivation is composed of Jiang Zekai, Yan Han and Lin Zesheng, all juniors in the College of Information Science and Technology.

The official competition kicked off on Nov. 14. Each team included one coach and three team members. Team members shared one computer and were required to complete 12 English programming questions within a specified time. 

Organized annually by the CPCC Committee, this competition is also supported by International Collegiate Programming Contest. In 2021, CCPC set up competitions in four divisions across China. Representative teams from each division are composed of the best programming talents selected from online collegiate competitions.
