The fourth Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Ecological Environment Forum was held at Jinan University on Sept. 25, with the theme Carbon Market Construction and Carbon Neutrality.”
Cai Dafeng, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the China Association for Promoting Democracy's Central Committee, said the results of the previous forums had greatly promoted the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He emphasized that the forum would discuss the role of market mechanism in achieving carbon neutrality.
JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng said JNU had played a unique role in pushing the Greater Bay Area's green and low-carbon development and the high-quality development of Guangdong. He further pointed out that, with everyone's participation and efforts, the forum would surely grow into a long-term mechanism, contributing more to the Greater Bay Area' s development and construction in a green and low-carbon way.
JNU President Song Xianzhong presided over the expert roundtable forum, where Du Xiangwan and Chen Yong, academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and other famous scholars in the field exchanged views on carbon market development; carbon allowance futures and futures-cash linkage in a carbon trading system; prospective paths, and policies related to carbon neutrality.
