For the first time, JNU's computer science discipline ranked among the top 1% of ESI (Essential Science Indicators) subjects in the world from Jan. 1, 2011, to June 30, 2021, Clarivate Analysis announced on Sept. 9. Five universities in mainland China newly entered the top 1% list of ESI subjects, and 35 disciplines in China’s universities were added to the world's top 1% of ESI.
To date, 13 JNU disciplines have entered the world's top 1% of ESI subjects: computer science; clinical medicine; chemistry; engineering; pharmacology and toxicology; materials science; biology and biochemistry; agricultural science; environmental science/ecology; botany and zoology; molecular biology and genetics; general social sciences; and neuroscience and behavior.
In recent years, JNU has made remarkable achievement in the construction of platforms on computer discipline groups. JNU's computer discipline group, including computer and cyber security, has independently cultivated one National Distinguished Young Scholar, three National Outstanding Youth Scholars and nearly 10 provincial and ministerial talents in the last three years, despite the relatively small number of teachers.
Now JNU's computer science discipline has a post-doctoral research center in cyber security; two first-class Ph.D. programs in computer science and technology, and cyber security; and two national first-class undergraduate majors, computer science and technology, and cyber security. In addition, JNU has been approved to establish one National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center, two Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratories, one Guangdong-Hong Kong joint laboratory for advanced intelligent computing and five Guangdong provincial engineering technology research centers. It is also to build two joint laboratories on scientific research with international peers.
