JNU signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation contract with Jiangmen Municipal People’s Government on Aug. 30. Attending the signing ceremony were Pang Guomei, vice minister of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee’s United Front Work Department and director of the Guangdong Overseas Chinese Affairs Office; Zhu Chaohua, deputy director of the Guangdong Department of Education; Wu Shiwen, deputy director of the Guangdong Department of Science and Technology; Chen Anming, secretary of the Jiangmen Municipal Party Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the Jiangmen Municipal People’s Congress; Lai Yanfen, vice mayor of Jiangmen City; Zhang Kun, Party secretary of Wuyi University; JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng, and JNU President Song Xianzhong.

Lin said the cooperation between JNU and all walks of life in Jiangmeng city had recently become been closer and the cooperation of “Overseas Chinese Schools” and “Overseas Chinese Town” had sparked some new leads. JNU has achieved results in scientific research, talent training, diffusion of overseas Chinese culture and target-oriented assistance, he said. The signing of the agreement marks a new stage in the cooperation between JNU, the century-old university for overseas Chinese, and the city with the most overseas Chinese.

Chen pointed out that the acceleration of comprehensive strategic cooperation between the city and the university was of great significance in promoting the high-quality development of Jiangmen City and JNU's double-first-class university initiative. He said he hoped JNU would continue to support and help the development of Jiangmen, further deepen wide-ranging cooperation, and maintain the deep friendship between JNU and the city.

At the signing ceremony, Jiangmen Municipal Government donated anti-pandemic supplies worth 200,000 yuan to JNU students from Hong Kong and Macao.
