Chen Weiju, dean of Jinan University's School of Nursing, was inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in the list announced on Aug. 4, in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to nursing management and nursing education.   

Chen is also vice chairwoman of the Professional Nursing Management Committee of the Chinese Hospital Association; a member of the Standing Committee  of the Chinese Geriatrics Society's Medical Care Branch; , president of the Guangdong  Nurses Association, and chairwoman of the Nursing Management Branch of the Guangdong Hospital Association.

In Chen's 40-year nursing career, she has served as chairwoman of the First Affiliated Hospital of JNU's nursing department and the Party Committee secretary and dean of JNU's School of Nursing. She has built a specialized nursing development security system, including the prospective nursing quality management structure, the clinical nurse third-level control network and integrated ward rounds of medical care, taking the lead in carrying out multilevel management and reform clinical nurse specialists' working mode, cultivating specialized nurses and developing advanced nursing practices.
