JNU held its first round of pre-work training of the year on July 2. The training was carried out both online and off for more than 500 new teachers from JNU's five campuses in three places. President Song Xianzhong and Party Secretary Lin Rupeng expressed their wish that the newcomers will become teachers who will satisfy both the Party and people.
Lin extended a warm welcome to the newcomers to JNU, the leading university for overseas Chinese. He said he hoped they could impart knowledge and educate students, engage in scholarship, and shoulder the responsibility entrusted to them by the nation and society.
Song set three requirements for new faculty members: that they strengthen their faith and bear their mission in mind; that they wholeheartedly cherish their posts and be down-to-earth in their work; and that they strive for innovation and excellence. Song said they should set an example of high professional ethics, improve their teaching ability and be creative, making efforts to become qualified teachers.
Dean Li Dan of the College of Chemistry and Materials Science led a seminar titled Requirements for University Teachers, in which he emphasized the significance for teachers of outstanding teaching ability and abundant knowledge.
