Three graduate students in JNU's School of Stomatology participated in the online Orthodontic Postgraduate Discussion panel during the 20th China Orthodontics Seminar, the first forum for young and middle-aged orthodontists' development, in Chongqing on June 17. The conference aims to train young and middle-aged doctors and provide a platform for team cooperation and self-development.
The JNU participants were Peng Song, Deng Rong and Huang Xiefan, graduate students under the guidance of Deputy Chief Physician Zhou Zhiying, This is the first time the School of Stomatology has participated in such a debate. Before the competition, the team members prepared literature and cases, worked with their instructor and constantly broadened their minds.
In a debate, Wuhan University's team put forward the viewpoint that skeletal Class III malocclusion patients need early intervention, discussing the advantages. By analyzing the etiology, pathogenesis, severity and other factors of skeletal Class III malocclusion through systematic considerations, JNU countered with the view that deciding whether these patients need early intervention requires comprehensive consideration and priority. Afterward, each side speculated on the other's viewpoints. Instructors from both sides made a final summary.
