JNU President Song Xiangzhong and Xia Quan, deputy secretary of the JNU Party Committee, attended the meeting of the Guangdong Social Sciences Association on April 30 to discuss deepening cooperation, through which JNU aims to raise its ability to transform its social science research achievements and promote economic development.

Song pointed out that JNU, a well-known university with a 115-year history, follows overseas-oriented operational guidelines. Because of its outstanding performance in liberal arts disciplines, he said, it plays an important role in building a shared community of the Chinese nation and spreading Chinese culture to the world.

Zhang Zhigan, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and chairman of the association, said it would deepen its cooperation with JNU. He added that they would promote high-quality development of social sciences in Guangdong, giving full play to their advantages while focusing on the practical needs of national development strategy and Guangdong's further reform and opening-up in the new era.

Xia said he hoped the association would continue to support innovative development of the social sciences at JNU by further expanding cooperation channels to better serve the cultural, economic and social development of China and Guangdong.
