The signing and opening ceremony of the Experimental School Affiliated with Jinan University in Guangzhou's Zengcheng District was held on April 17. The private international school is expected to open in September, with an initial plan to recruit 1,100 primary and junior high students.

The school was founded by JNU and the Guangdong Mingkeming Education Investment Co. 

JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng said the affiliated school would uphold the spirit and characteristics of JNU to build a higher-level, more international school.

Lv Jun, the school's principal, described the school's philosophy and characteristics, with a philosophy of enabling every student to flourish. Rooted in classic Chinese culture, it practices the development philosophy based on culture and quality, with a commitment to establishing a brand school with the characteristics of traditional Chinese culture and internationalization.

At the event, an appointment ceremony for the committee of experts on JNU primary education was also held. Appointed as consultants to help develop the affiliated school, helping to develop it were Su Guohui, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an expert on neuroanatomy; Xu Hong, deputy to the 15th Guangzhou Municipal People's Congress and deputy secretary general of the National Cooperation and Innovation Alliance of Private Education; Su Bingtian, a sprinter who is an associate professor in JNU's School of Physical Education; Gu Bin, senior coach of the Chinese Mathematical Olympiad; and Prof. Zhu Guiming, vice president of JNU's College of Art.
