With time passing and things taking on a new look, a brand new year is approaching. With the coming of 2021, we would like to extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to all the faculty, staff, students, retired comrades, board members and alumni at home and abroad. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to all segments of society at home and abroad for their concern and support for our school's development in 2020.

2020 was an extraordinary year in the history of our country. Facing the severe impact of the coronavirus pandemic, our party has united and led people of all ethnic groups in China to achieve major strategic achievements in prevention and control. Under the strong leadership of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee and the Guangdong provincial committee and government, JNU has made concerted efforts in epidemic prevention and control as well as in teaching and scientific research, improving JNU's comprehensive strength in school-running and enhancing the school's reputation.

Over the last year, by deeply studying Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism With Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, JNU has effectively integrated the Party's overall leadership into all steps in the entire school-running process. With political construction as the guiding principle, JNU has consolidated Party-building at the grassroots level and completed the election of mid-level cadre. The school has also promoted reform and innovation in ideological and political work, creating a clean, upright environment for education.

Resolved to fight the virus, JNU has made great efforts to win double victories in the battle of epidemic prevention and control as well as in the school reform and development. JNU contributed to the battle against the epidemic in Wuhan, Hubei, by sending 89 medical workers from the First Affiliated Hospital of JNU in support. All teachers and students have strictly abided by the regulations of epidemic prevention and control at the university, continuing to study when the school was closed, and fully restored regular teaching and education in the fall semester.

JNU has steadily promoted its construction as a double-first-class and high-level university and outlined the blueprint for the period of the 14th Five-Year Plan. It ranked among the top 1% in 12 subjects in ESI, and its ranking in QS and other authoritative international rankings has kept rising, with improved quality of education and social reputation.
