JNU welcomes freshmen

JNU welcomes freshmen
Date: Sept. 17, 2020
Author: Du Mingcan

Jinan University welcomed freshmen to its main campus on Sept. 17. Looking forward to their new college journey, the students were ready for a fresh start, and their arrival filled the quiet campus with vigor and vitality.

Freshmen registered in batches until Sept. 20. By JinanYingxin (a WeChat mini-program used to welcome freshmen), JinanWeixiao and JinanYiban (apps developed for students), faculty members answered freshmen's questions in advance. This greatly improved their efficiency.

JNU Party Secretary Lin Rupeng held several meetings to make arrangements for welcoming freshmen. He said he hoped all students could make the best use of their time, develop multiple skills and thrive at JNU, known for its multicultural education and intellectual atmosphere.

The first freshmen arrived at JNU's Shipai campus at 8 a.m. Greeting them at the gate, JNU President Song Xianzhong welcomed them warmly and expressed loving care for all staff members and volunteers present.

The university will continue to encourage students to use JinanYingxin on their mobile phones this year. The mini-program helped seniors who are responsible for contacting newcomers make contact in advance and accompany them to registration.

The Student Affairs Office encouraged seniors from every school to participate in the welcome activity and launched a plan called Guidance at JNU to guide newly arrived freshmen. Schools paired seniors and assistants with every freshman to help them adapt to college life as quickly as possible.

Under pandemic control regulations, newcomers' parents and cars are not allowed to enter JNU's campuses this year. For students' convenience, the university rented 50 electric vehicles to pick them up in batches.
JNU's Huawen, Zhuhai and Shenzhen campuses welcome their newcomers one after another in the days that followed.
